Sweet | Style: Menswear for Women

Today our Sweet Style feature takes menswear and gives it a feminine twist. Let’s face it, ties on women are sexy! Well, maybe with the exception of the polka dot tie I had to wear when I worked at The Olive Garden ten years ago, but I blame that more on the red cotton apron and “Hospitaliano” button. Luckily, those salad and breadsticks days are behind me, and Leighton Meester shows us how effortlessly chic it is to pair a loosened tie with a slouchy pantsuit. With tousled  hair and smoky eyes, Leighton pulls off the menswear look without an ounce of frumpiness. Check out H&M for that perfect black blazer and shop the menswear section to find a black skinny tie. Maybe even a lacy top underneath, a la this lacy tuxedo style cupcake wrapper? This cupcake honors Leighton’s look with its formal charm, transforming a sweet chocolate cupcake by dressing it up to make it black tie ready.

Let’s hear it for the boys!

Boys… We mean MEN are awesome.  They are so many things… A road trip pal even when you are just going on an errand, a Father who is strong as steel and kind as a kitten, a movie buddy who will take you to see this movie, brothers who taught you to laugh at yourself, a mentor that empowered you to dream big, a best friend who holds your hand in the emergency room, a stranger who opens the door for you, a husband who is your biggest cheerleader. Our sparkly headbands go off  to you good fellows!

Here are a few suggestions: Whiskey stones to keep his whiskey at the right temp without watering it down, perfect for your John Wayne friend. How about your foodie friends?
