Sweet Peonies

Peonies are one of my favorite flowers, next to sweat peas. The carefree shape, the scent, the colors and best of all as they start to wither away they become more beautiful. I was so excited to pick-up a small bunch and then found the perfect vessel for one of the fully bloomed peonies.

I was baking and used my last drop of vanilla extract and as I was about to toss it into the recycling bin my arm swung back and I immediately removed the label, washed it and and stuck the striking stem into the glass bottle. The amber shade makes the peony look so romantic and timeless. I could stare at it forever. If only..

Recycling pays big.

Happy Anniversary

Last year at this time my brothers and I planned a “surprise party” for my parent’s 40th anniversary but the surprise was on us, they knew about the party! But still, Mom and Dad put on their best amazed and shocked faces and we had a happy weekend celebrating with our family and friends. This year is very different, my Mom is in the hospital, we are all very optimistic that she will be home soon and on the road to recovery, but boy what a difference a year makes.

This blog always has a special meaning because every post I think of my folks. My Mom is a craft star/baking genius can do just about anything. My Dad is a wine connoisseur and a savvy business guy as well as a fine artist and craftsman. That “what would you grab if there was a fire?” question, well, that would be a beloved painting my Dad painted as a young adult. Together they have shared so much of their wisdom and provided support to allow me to be who I am.

On this not so sunny moment I send them an extra big world wide wish: Happy Anniversary ! With all my love and gratitude!
