In our home we try to balance work and play, as well as healthy and treats. This dessert is a balance of yummy and wholesome, the blackberry crumble is made with no flour, no butter, and no sugar, and instead with hearty oats, almond flour, fresh blackberries and agave syrup. You might be thinking that can’t be called a crumble, but the texture and taste is spot on.
An added benefit to making this dessert, it is perfectly suitable for being called breakfast. Add your favorite nuts, flax seeds, chia seeds, or coconut for more added nutrition.
Blackberry Crumble (no sugar, flour and butter)
Need:
- blackberries 2 baskets for ramekins/ 3-4 baskets for 2 quart baking dish
- 1/2 almond flour
- 1/2 oats
- 2 tablespoons agave syrup or 1/4 coconut oil
How:
Pre-heat oven to 350 F. Rinse blackberries well, then place them in a two-quart baking dish or ramekins (ungreased). Sprinkle cinnamon on top. Combine agave syrup with oats and almond flour, with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Place topping on top of blueberries. Cover ramekins or baking dish with tin foil to prevent the topping from burning, remove 5-10 mins before taking the berry crumble out of the oven.
Bake till golden brown (20 mins for ramekins and about 30 mins for baking dish)
Try it warm with ice cream or yogurt…yummy, and still healthy, (well sort of).
Yum.
