When it comes to the holidays I tend to veer from traditional festive ornaments and decorate with pieces that compliment our home and personalities.
I also stared at a pumpkin for a few minutes and asked the pumpkin how should I decorate you? The pumpkin telepathically reminded me of this post and I concurred that this would be a unique way to decorate the big pumpkin.
The great pumpkin then evolved to doing a mini-party/inspiration shoot. I really wanted white pumpkins at my wedding but they were not in season in mid-September, but I have always loved pumpkin picking and the character of pumpkin shapes and find them to be a perfect compliment to a fall wedding.
I painted my pumpkins this year a beautiful metallic nickel color, a soft turquoise blue, and a hyacinth purple gray… the colors are far away on the color spectrum of orange and yellow and I like it that way. The color pallet reminds me of a crisp overcast fall morning sky. The table is complete with burlap and lace creating a masculine and feminine touch. And, of course, it would not be a party with out a great cake. The cake (this week’s Friday dessert post) is adorned with a sweet acorn bunting.
Tomorrow I will share with you how I decorate the pumpkins on my fireplace mantle.

LOVE the string, and the colors of the pumpkins. So unique and pretty!
