Gilded Flower Headband

Every now and then a girl has to do what a girl has to do. In this case it was taking pictures of myself. Gasp! I wanted to share this gilded flower, black head-piece that I made and knew it would be best on top of my head. Thus, I stood in front of my tripod and camera. I am, admittedly, camera-shy or rather not shy as much as not that interested in taking photos of myself. Excuse the messy bun and no make-up look.

The inspiration for this hair piece came from an image of Elle Spain and their model, Olga Maliuk, photographed by Riccardo Tinelli. The glam head-gear incorporates a few things I love: velvet, gold and statement pieces.

I wore it while watching Downtown Abbey’s premiere and of course, Lady Mary had to show me up with her beautiful head-gear. Figures!

My piece was a repurposed project. An old headband that I covered in black velvet ribbon secured with glue. The flowers I had leftover from an art shoot, which I spray painted. They cost just pennies and so fun to wear.
